Generally speaking, Americans think pretty highly of Sweden…and rightfully so, because generally speaking - things are pretty good in Sweden. So, to launch Klarna - a Swedish online shopping app - in America, we leaned heavily into Klarna’s Swedish roots. First, we dug through 50+ years of Swedish films, and then we rewrote them to be hard-hitting Klarna ads, because nobody here speaks Swedish anyway. It didn’t hurt that this concept was ideal for the limited-production world of Covid, with the end cards being the only pieces we actually had to produce (shot in Sweden, by Sweden’s favorite son - Andreas).
Working with Croix Gagnon, and the amazing team at Mirimar to bring this Swedish oddness to life made the first few months of quarantine not entirely horrible.
